Lily Mills Special Olympics
July 5, 2023
Lily Mills has recently returned from representing GB in the Virtus Games in Vichy-France and Berlin for the Special Olympics World Games.
Hosted in Berlin, the Special Olympics World Games welcomed 7,000 Special Olympics athletes. Lily served up Gold in the mixed doubles with partner, Adam Brownsword and earned the Bronze medal in the Women's doubles. What a great achievement.
In addition to her on court success Lily has been involved in two high profile campaigns.
Outdoor Ocean put together a campaign #daretodream in collaboration with Paralympics GB, Special Olympics GB &Team GB bringing the big 3 events together. The campaign can be seen on virtual screens across the country including in Piccadilly Circus.
To celebrate her incredible story and to amplify the voices of all Special Olympics GB athletes, Official Partner Toyota teamed up with Will Red grove and Arts for All to create a breathtaking mural just moments away from Lily's home in Highbury London.
Will said “A man and his young son came up to the wall while we were painting and asked us what we were doing. After explaining, he turned to his son and said ‘see, look at what you can achieve when you’ve got special needs’. If that isn’t what this project is all about, I don’t know what is.”
“It’s important to platform people like Lily and her achievements. And what better way than to create a mural in her neighborhood. Public art should be for those who use and need it most.”
