LTA County Training Update
October 1, 2020
Summer Training
Despite all of the ongoing challenges out there and whilst keeping everyone as safe as possible on around the tennis courts, Middlesex players have enjoyed an extended Summer of activity. The really good weather helping enormously.
Middlesex County training has run from July right through to the end of September with all squads, consisting of over 100 players, from 9u to 13u enjoying two sessions per month. We have been incredibly fortunate to have 15 venues supporting us right across the county, with new venues coming on board including, Kings House TC, Merchant Taylor School, Conway LTC and Winchmore Hill LTC.
The training has been supplemented with over 25 team matches players competing across our whole pathway, from our adult teams down to our mini orange kids battling it out against Bucks, Essex, Herts, Suffolk, Surrey and Sussex. Some real competitive performances, but the most positive outcome is to see how well Middlesex players connect and are ready to represent the County. This certainly bodes very well for the future.
Winter Training
As we go to press, government guidelines allow group training (including County training), to proceed at indoor venues, in accordance with the safe distancing guidelines in place. These newly updated guidelines will be available to all players and parents prior to the start of the winter and will be mandatory.
Currently our choice of venues is restricted to four centers, which will mean for some players and parents the need to travel further to attend squad sessions.
This is regrettably out of our control, though we believe the quality of the training, makes a longer journey worthwhile.
Training will be back to a monthly basis, as we start the mission of identifying, selecting and preparing teams to represent the county in both friendly and LTA County Cup Competition.
Full details of the Middlesex Winter programme will be available to players and parents at the beginning of October.
