Mixed Fortunes at LTA Summer County Cup Week
July 31, 2023
Our Women's team gain promotion to Group 1 Eastbourne for 2024 with 5 wins from 5 in a rainy Nottingham which saw no play on the grass. On the first two days, the teams dominated to 8-1 and 9-0 wins respectively. We knew it was going to be a tough ask the rest of the week as we lost 3 of our experienced players. The rest of the team stepped up to the task and guaranteed promotion with a day to spare with two 6-3 wins against Cheshire and Norfolk.
The Men's team were competing in Havant on a mixture of grass, astro and clay courts throughout the week. Heading into day 5 with 4-teams on 4 points, playing top of table North of Scotland. It was going to be a hard ask to produce a win, however the team performed well and pushed to a 4-5 loss. The other results did not go our way and miss out by 1 rubber. With 21 fixtures going to a match tie break, the results could have very easily gone another way if played again.
