Naqi Rizvi becomes the world no 1 B1(totally blind) player

Members & guests gathered at the Globe Tennis Club on the evening of Wednesday 25th October to celebrate Naqi Rizvi's recent success and in becoming the world no 1 B1(totally blind) player in the world. This year Naqi has won both the International Blind Sports Association World Games in Birmingham and the International Blind Tennis Association World Championships in Poland. Naqi is a member of the Globe where is plays regularly. He also trains at the Metro Blind Sport sessions held at Islington Tennis Centre that are led by Linda Almond from Highgate Tennis Club.
Naqi specifically mentioned volunteers Linda and Alan Almond on the evening and thanked them for the massive contribution to his career. He also thanked the Globe for the support they provide to visually impaired tennis and he reflected on some of the things that contributed to his on court success and how that translated into other aspects of life. He commented that what he loves about tennis is that itis a sport that does not require a guide so as a player he is independent.
After the 'conversation with Naqi' members and guest had the opportunity to go on court with the world no 1.
